Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle Tour from Inverness

A great day of mountains, lochs and glens on the way through stunning Highland scenery to the Isle of Skye including the dramatic Cuillin mountains and the beautiful harbour town of Portree.

The Isle of Skye tour begins at Inverness where we follow the banks of Loch Ness down past Urquhart Castle to Invermoriston before turning west through Glen Moriston on the way to Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel. Before arriving at Eilean Donan Castle we take a short detour up Carrbrae for a stunning view of Loch Duich and the Five Sisters of Kintail mountains.

Eilean Donan Castle, Scottish Highlands

At Eilean Donan Castle we explore its ancient past with time for a visit into the castle to discover its secrets before we cross the bridge to the Isle of Skye, where the spectacular Cuillin mountains greet us in the distance. Our journey through the Isle of Skye takes us to the base of the Red Hills and the dramatic Black Cuillin mountain ridge. We stop near the old bridge at Sligachan (great place to take a short walk) where we get the best view of the peaks of the Black Cuillin.

The Highlands are renowned for changeable weather, even over the summer months. However, from October to April, poor weather conditions are more common and daylight hours are reduced (particularly from late-October to early-March). For tours during these months, we will likely return to Inverness in darkness. The itinerary may be changed at short notice to adapt to weather conditions, and on very rare occasions tours may be cancelled due to severe weather.
