Cancellation / Changes by The Hebridean Explorer
The Hebridean Explorer undertakes to fulfill all tours as booked but reserves the right to cancel, change or curtail a tour due to unforeseen circumstances, illness, injuries or events out with our control. In this case a full refund of all payments made to us by the client in respect of the tour will be an end to any obligation on our part. Our liability for costs or inconvenience if we fail to complete a tour is limited to the total value of the tour purchased. Alternative travel dates will be offered if possible. The Hebridean Explorer is not responsible for any other costs clients may incur such as flight, accommodation and travel expenses.
Changes by Clients
We accept that unforeseen circumstances can also affect our clients and we will always try and accommodate a change of date for tour bookings. No charges will apply to tour date changes for One Day tours if an alternative date is available. For Multi-Day tours charges will only apply if The Hebridean Explorer has incurred extra accommodation costs in changing the tour dates. However, if we have no alternative date available then the cancellation charges listed below will apply.
Cancellation by Clients
For One Day Tours, if you cancel more than 30 days before the tour start date a cancellation charge of 25% (of the total tour price) will apply.
For Multi Day Tours, if you cancel more than 30 days before the tour start date a cancellation charge of 40% (of the total tour price) will apply.
For All Tours, if you cancel within 30 or less days before the tour start date a cancellation charge of 100% (of the total tour price) will apply.
Failure to appear at an agreed tour start point and/or an agreed start time will constitute a cancellation with no refunds given.
All cancellations must be made by email or writing and will be effective from the date we receive the written/email notification.
We appreciate that clients may be forced to cancel booked tours due to unforeseen circumstances and we have made every effort to keep our cancellation charges as reasonable as possible, however, we strongly recommend that clients consider appropriate travel insurance with cancellation cover.
Insurance and Liability
The Hebridean Explorer holds Public Liability Insurance along with Private Hire Insurance.
We strongly recommend that all clients arrange suitable travel, medical and cancellation insurance.
Ferry Sailings and Isle of Skye Bridge (if applicable)
Ferry sailings are generally very reliable in the summer months, but delays can very occasionally occur. While we cannot be responsible for any extra accommodation, food or other costs that clients may incur due to ferry delays and cancellations, we will make every effort to adapt the tour to minimise disruption. Please note that no refunds will be given for tour and itinerary changes due to ferry changes and cancellations. To date all our tours have crossed and returned over without significant delays.
On rare occasions the Isle of Skye Bridge can close for a few hours at short notice for traffic due to high winds which may cause delays or curtailment of a tour. Please note that in the very rare event of a closure forcing an overnight stay on the Isle of Skye, The Hebridean Explorer is not liable or responsible for any extra accommodation, food or other costs that clients may incur. To date all our tours have returned to Inverness without significant delays.
