3 Day Highland and Islay Whisky Tour
Discover the wonderful whiskies of the Isle of Islay and the Highlands with a three day tour from Inverness that allows for a full day to explore up to three of the malt whisky distilleries on Islay.
Day 1 - Our three day Islay and West Highlands whisky tour begins at Inverness where we follow the ancient geological fault line that cuts through the Highlands - the Great Glen - towards Fort William, with scenic stops at Loch Ness and Fort Augustus on the way. After a refreshement break at Fort William we continue south to Oban where we visit the famous Oban distillery. The late afternoon takes us south through Kilmartin Glen towards Kennacraig where we board the evening ferry for a 2¼ hour sailing across to the Isle of Islay and the first of our two overnight stays on the island.
Day 2 - We have one full day on Islay and the itinerary can be adapted around your tastes and personal choices. Generally we aim to enjoy two standard distillery whisky tours along with a third distillery for tastings. Alternatively, you may wish to take an extended distillery tour of your favourite whisky - just let us know and we can design a specific itinerary to suit.
Choose from Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain and Caol Ila.
Day 3 - We leave the Isle of Islay on the morning sailing back to the mainland. It is then a scenic drive north to Oban where we enjoy a late lunch. The afternoon takes us through Fort William and along the Great Glen back towards Inverness. Throughout our return drive we break the journey with a number of scenic viewpoint stops including Spean Bridge and Inverlochy Castle.
Tour Option - Add an extra day on Islay
Should you wish more time to explore the Isle of Islay we can add an additional day to the tour to include more distillery visits along with some of the fantastic scenery and history on the island. Tour surcharge - £500 per tour.
