2 Day Isle of Skye Tour

Day 1 begins at Inverness where we follow the banks of Loch Ness down past Urquhart Castle to Invermoriston before turning west through Glen Moriston on the way to explore the beautiful Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel. Continuing on towards Loch Duich at the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail mountains - one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the Scottish Highlands - we take a detour up Mam Ratagan for a breath-taking view of the Highlands!

Eilean Donan Castle, Scottish Highlands

At Eilean Donan Castle we explore its ancient and historic past - with time for a visit into the castle to discover its secrets - and an enjoy a lunch break before we cross the bridge to Skye, where the spectacular Cuillin mountains greet us. Our journey through the Isle of Skye takes us to the old bridge at Sligachan with its great views of the Black Cuillin.

Kilt Rock, Trotternish, Isle of Skye

The late afternoon takes us to the Trotternish peninsula for stunning views of the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock before we take a drive up the old cattle pass road to the Quiraing. Looking across the sea to the north west Highlands, the Quiraing is one of the highlights of the whole trip to the Isle of Skye. We then return to Portree for our overnight stop.

The Quiraing, Isle of Skye

Day 2 begins with time in Portree to explore the scenic harbour and attractions before we take a short drive to Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan MacLeod, for a great look back at the history of one of the Hebrides most powerful clans. As well as being the oldest continually inhabited castle in Scotland, Dunvegan also has wonderful gardens to explore.

Dunvegan Castle, Isle of Skye

After an early lunch at Dunvegan Castle, we then make our way down past the Red Hills of Skye towards the Sleat Peninsula - known as ‘the garden of Skye’ - where we stop at the beautiful Isleornsay with its stunning views across the Sound of Sleat to Knoydart and the Scottish mainland.

Sleat Peninsula, Isle of Skye

After a visit to Armadale we 'get off the beaten path' and explore the remote western side of the Sleat Peninsula, crossing over to the villages of Tarskavaig and Ord for a spot of beach-combing and some great views across to the Cuillin mountains before we begin our journey back to Inverness.
