2 Day Isle of Skye Tour

2 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Inverness

Make more of your trip to the Isle of Skye with a two day tour from Inverness. Explore its stunning and dramatic scenery - including the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and the Old Man of Storr - and discover its ancient history, heritage and culture.

Day 1 begins at Inverness where we follow the banks of Loch Ness before turning west towards Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel. Continuing on to the Five Sisters of Kintail mountains we take a detour up Mam Ratagan for a breath-taking view of the Highlands! At Eilean Donan Castle we explore its ancient and historic past before we cross the bridge to the Isle of Skye heading for the base of the dramatic Black Cuillin mountain ridge. The late afternoon takes us to the Trotternish Peninsula for stunning views of the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock before we take a drive up to the Quiraing for one of the highlights of the whole trip to the Isle of Skye. We then return to Portree for our overnight stop.

Day 2 begins with time in Portree before we take a short drive to Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan MacLeod, for a great look back at the history of one of the Hebrides most powerful clans. Leaving Dunvegan Castle we make our way down past the Red Hills of Skye towards the Sleat Peninsula - known as ‘the garden of Skye’ - where we stop at the beautiful Isleornsay with its stunning views across the Sound of Sleat to Knoydart and the Scottish mainland. After a visit to Armadale we 'get off the beaten path' and explore the remote western side of the Sleat Peninsula, crossing over to the villages of Tarskavaig and Ord for great views across to the Cuillin mountains before we begin our journey back to Inverness.

* Winter Tour (November to March)
Due to reduced daylight hours and the winter closure of a number of attractions (including Dunvegan Castle) we offer a modified itinerary with slighty shorter tour days and earlier start times to maximise touring during the daylight hours. While the Highlands and Hebrides are renowned for changeable weather all year round, please note that for tours during autumn and winter months, poor weather conditions are more likely and weather disruptions can be more common. Please email for information about our winter tour itinerary.
