At Eilean Donan Castle we explore the castle’s ancient past - with time for a visit into the castle to discover its secrets - and a mid-morning coffee break, before we cross the bridge to the Isle of Skye, where the spectacular Cuillin mountains greet us in the distance.
We then journey down the Sleat Peninsula - known as ‘the garden of Skye’ - where we stop at the beautiful Isleornsay with its stunning views across the Sound of Sleat to Knoydart before a late lunch stop at Armadale Castle cafe.
Leaving Armadale we spend the rest of the afternoon 'getting off the beaten path' and exploring the remote western side of the Sleat Peninsula, crossing over to the villages of Tarskavaig and Ord for a spot of beach-combing and some great views across to the Cuillin mountains before we begin our journey back to Inverness.
The tour covers approx. 220 miles over 10 hours which allows for lots of stops and time out of the vehicle enjoying the scenery. We have 2 long stops on the tour both at least 1¼ hours - at Eilean Donan Castle (mid morning) and Armadale (late lunch). Additionally, we have at least 8 viewpoint and photo stops between 10 and 15 mins.
Although we stop at Armadale Castle cafe for lunch this tour does not include a visit to Armadale Castle and the Musuem of the Isles. Should you be interested in visiting the castle then please consider the Clan Macdonald Tour inc. Armadale Castle which is similar but with a reduced stop at Eilean Donan Castle and no Isleornsay stop, allowing for time in Armadale Castle.
...and because it's the Highlands and we can have "four seasons in one day"!
