Highland Adventure Tour inc. Eilean Donan Castle
Explore three of the best sites in the Scottish Highlands - Eilean Donan Castle, Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness - along with stunning and dramatic scenery!
Our Highland Adventure tour begins at Inverness where we journey south-west along the banks of Loch Ness before arriving at the medieval ruins of Urquhart Castle. Here you have time to explore the castle ruins, discover its links with so many of the important events in the history of the Highlands, and take advantage of its great viewpoints looking out across Loch Ness.
Leaving Urquhart Castle we follow along Ness-side to Invermoriston before turning west through Glen Moriston on the way to explore the beautiful Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel. Continuing on towards Loch Duich at the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail mountains - one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the Scottish Highlands - we take a detour up Mam Ratagan for a breath-taking view of the Highlands!
At Eilean Donan Castle, the ancestral home of the Clan Macrae, we explore the castle’s ancient and historic past - with time for a visit into the castle to discover its secrets - as well as savouring the wonderful Highland views around the castle. Leaving Eilean Donan Castle we take a detour across to Dornie for a beautiful castle panorama view. Finally, we head up past Carrbrae for a last glimpse of the castle with the Isle of Skye in the distance followed by a stunning Loch Duich viewpoint before our return to Inverness.
This tour is a great way to experience a wonderful combination of ancient Highland history, heritage and culture with stunning scenery and dramatic landscapes. Along with all the photo and viewpoint stops, we have at least 1½ hours at both Eilean Donan Castle and Urquhart Castle. I can promise our tour will include all the wonderful Scottish Highland views shown... but maybe not the weather!
