Half Day Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle Tour

Half Day Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle Tour

A great half day tour from Inverness with a full circular tour of Loch Ness including Urquhart Castle, Fort Augustus, the Caledonian Canal locks and the Falls of Foyers.

Our Half Day Highland Tour begins at Inverness where we journey south-west along the banks of Loch Ness before arriving at the medieval ruins of Urquhart Castle. Here you have time to explore the castle, discover its links with so many of the important events in the history of the Highlands, and take advantage of its fantastic viewpoints across Loch Ness.

Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness

Leaving Urquhart castle we continue on through Invermoriston to the southern end of Loch Ness at the picturesque village of Fort Augustus. Here we explore the locks of the Caledonian Canal and enjoy a short lunch at a local cafe.

Loch Ness from Fort Augustus

Departing Fort Augustus we head towards the Monadhliath mountains and the fantastic views from Suidhe point - also a great spot for a short hike (optional).

Next we visit the nearby Falls of Foyers where we take a short walk down to the stunning waterfall. Our return to Inverness includes a final stop at Dores where you can walk along the pebble beach at the top of Loch Ness.

Highlights of Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness

This half day tour is a great way to experience a wonderful combination of ancient Highland history and heritage with wonderful scenery and landscapes. I can promise our tour will include the wonderful views of Urquhart Castle shown in the video above... but maybe not the blue skies!
