Before our arrival at Eilean Donan Castle we explore Clachan Duich - situated next to Loch Duich and overlooked by the towering Five Sisters of Kintail. This is the ancient burial grounds of the Macraes of Kintail.
At Eilean Donan Castle, the ancestral home of the Clan Macrae, we have over two hours to explore the castle’s ancient and historic past and discover the Macraes important place in Highland history, as well as savouring the wonderful Highland views around the castle.
Leaving Eilean Donan Castle we take a detour across to Dornie for a wonderful castle panorama view. Finally, we head up past Carrbrae for a last glimpse of the castle with the Isle of Skye in the distance followed by a stunning Loch Duich viewpoint before our return to Inverness.
