Highland Jacobite Tour from Inverness to ObaneA stunning One Day Tour through the heart of the Highlands of Scotland from Inverness to Oban with stops at Fort Augustus, Fort William, Glenfinnan and Glencoe.

Castles, clans, rebellions and ‘Bonnie’ Princes provide a brilliant history of the Highlands while the Great Glen, Glenfinnan's ‘Harry Potter’ Viaduct and Glencoe provide the breath-taking scenery.

The tour to Oban begins at Inverness where we follow the banks of Loch Ness down past Urquhart Castle on our way to Fort Augustus where we take take time to admire the Caledonian Canal  and explore the village. Leaving Fort Augustus we travel to Spean Bridge where its Commando Memorial has one of the most magnificent views of the peaks of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor.

One Way Tour Options

The option to finish the tour in Oban rather than return to Inverness is available. As such the tour would finish earlier, when we arrive in Oban around 4pm where you would explore on your own.

Glenfinnan 'Harry Potter' Viaduct, Lochabar

At Fort William we stop for coffee and take time to explore the town before we depart for “the road to the Isles”. On the way we explore the Jacobite story and “Bonnie Prince Charlie” with a visit to the Glenfinnan Jacobite monument situated at the mouth of Glen Shiel - one of the most impressive viewpoints in the Scottish Highlands. Here you can visit the monument and exhibition or take a walk up the hill to get a great view of Glenfinnan viaduct now made even more famous by ‘Harry Potter’ films.

We generally have up around 1 ½ hours in Oban to explore this scenic town. The town is also home to the Oban Malt Whisky Distillery, so whisky fans may wish to take a tour of the distillery. (Pre-booking advisable and subject to opening hours). Departing Oban at the end of the afternoon we drive back to Inverness for an evening arrival around 7.30pm

Continuing on towards Oban we take a short detour to the Glencoe Visitors Centre to explore the glen’s dark past - the massacre in 1692 of the MacDonalds. After time to explore and experience one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland we depart south towards our late afternoon stop at Oban, a picturesque coastal town on the west coast of Scotland.
