How often do we stop?

-Isle of Skye Explorer Tour (11 hour Day Tours)

While the tour does cover 250 miles we do this over 11 hours which allows for lots of stop and time out of the vehicle enjoying the scenery. We have 2 long stops on the tour both for 1 hour, at Eilean Donan Castle (mid-morning) and at Portree (lunch), along with a 20 minute coffee stop in the late afternoon. Between all that we have at least 10 viewpoint  and photo stops.

-Other Tours (6 - 10 hour Day Tours)

These tours cover no more than 200 miles . All Tours have a mid-morning coffee stop for 1 hour and a lunch stop for 1 hour. Between all that we have at least 8 viewpoint and photo stops.

-Multi-Day Tours and Tailor-made Tours

These tours normally cover no more than 200 miles per day. Generally all Tours have a mid-morning coffee stop for 1 hour and a lunch stop for 1 hour and depending on the length of the day a late afternoon coffee stop along with plenty of viewpoint and photo stops. For tours with ferry trips we plan tour days that work best with travel and mealtimes.

What clothing/footwear should we bring?

We try and get off the beaten track on our tours so some stops give you the opportunity to walk over peat land, take a walk up a hill or along the side of lochs. All this is optional but if you are considering footwear then walking boots will give you lots of choice at stops. We always recommend a waterproof jacket as the weather in the Highlands can be very changeable.
