The Hebridean Explorer is a small, independent private tour company specialising in private tours to the Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle and throughout the Highlands and Hebridean Islands of Scotland.

Your driver/guide, John Macdonald, is a native of the Hebridean Island of Lewis and was raised in a Scots Gaelic speaking family. John is now based in Drumnadrochit, near Inverness in the heart of the Highlands and has been operating The Hebridean Explorer for nearly five years, taking private groups on tours all around the Highlands and the Hebrides.

John has always had a strong interest in the history and culture of the Scottish Highlands and currently spends his spare time studying towards a degree in Scottish History at the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Our aim in every tour is that you get to sample as many of the delights of the Hebrides and the Highlands as possible, from the language of the Gaels - Gaelic - to the ancient history, traditions and culture that make this land so special.

Tour Vehicle

To ensure your comfort and safety, our tour vehicle is a Mercedes Benz Traveliner equipped with air conditioning and seating for a maximum of 8 passengers.

With 8 full-sized seats and a more elevated position and larger windows than a saloon car, your group can enjoy a better view of the beautiful scenery of the Highlands and Islands.

For all our Multi-day tours we limit the tours to a maximum of 6 passengers which allows for a large amount of luggage to be carried.
